Stacey Johnson to Receive the 2018 Iowa Taxpayers Association’s Weindruch Award

DES MOINES, IA — (November 20, 2018) The Iowa Taxpayers Association, the state's leading nonpartisan business tax policy resource since 1935, in conjunction with the family of Linda S. Weindruch is pleased to announce that Stacey Johnson, John Deere Financial Worldwide, has been chosen as the recipient of the 2018 Linda S. Weindruch Award. This prestigious award will be presented to Johnson at the ITA Annual Meeting & Tax Symposium on November 29, 2018, at The Meadows Events & Conference Center in Altoona, Iowa.

The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding accomplishments and contributions in promoting and protecting the principles and policies of fair business taxation. The Iowa Taxpayers Association offers this award in memory and in recognition of Linda S. Weindruch, who passed away after a long battle with multiple sclerosis in October 2004. Linda was an active, longtime member of the Iowa Taxpayers Association. She was elected to serve on its board of directors in 1994 and served 10 active years. She was a tremendous friend of Iowa business and worked diligently to develop and shape legislative and regulatory policy that supported sound taxation principles.

“During Stacey’s tenure at ITA she was instrumental in advancing legislation beneficial to Iowa’s economy, including expansion of the sales and use tax manufacturing machinery and equipment exemption. Stacey also helped formulate legislation establishing the Industrial Processing Exemption Study Committee, which laid the path to successful tax reform several years later,” said Bruce Baker, Nyemaster Goode, P.C., Linda S. Weindruch Award Committee Chair.

Stacey’s leadership at John Deere Financial has grown immensely since she started in 2006. She is responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory developments; identifying specific initiatives that may pose opportunities or threats to the organization; developing strategies and action plans to align with business goals; directing changes in public policy to improve the company’s financial position; building and maintaining relationships with public officials, legislative committees and government agencies to advocate and develop support in favor of the company’s interests; and coordinating with trade associations and business coalitions to develop support for the positions John Deere Financial takes. Stacey supports these efforts in more than 53 countries worldwide.

Stacey is a University of Iowa graduate, has a doctorate of jurisprudence from Drake University Law School and is the first recipient of the Drake Law School Legislative Practice Certificate. She currently serves as vice chair on the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden board of directors and as a member of the United Way Opportunity Council. She lives in Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband, Scott, and two children, Anna and Robert.
