This month's member company spotlight is on TC Energy. The following are their answers to our questions regarding information on their company and why they are an ITA member.

Tell us a little about TC Energy. For more than 70 years, TC Energy has proudly operated pipelines, storage facilities, and power generation plants that support life in Canada, the US, and Mexico. We operate over 57,900 miles of natural gas pipelines, 3,000 miles of liquids pipelines, invest in 7 power generation facilities with a capacity of 4,300 megawatts. In Iowa specifically, our ANR natural gas line has 1,041 miles of pipe and 6 compressor stations. We have 36 full time employees residing in Iowa, have spent $54,340 in community investment dollars as of 2020, and have paid accrued property tax of $6.93 million. 

What is an interesting fact about your company? Interesting fact about TC Energy is that we are a people powered company of over 7,000 professionals residing across 3 different countries, across 40 different states in the US and have an incredibly strong safety culture within our work place. We start all meetings with internal or external people with a safety moment to share experiences and best practices in staying safe at work and at home.

Why is your company a member of ITA? As a tax paying company within IA, we feel we have a responsibility to engage on tax issues within the state. 

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to tax policy? Our biggest challenge when it come to tax policy is the perception that a company our size does not need smart tax policy to operate efficiently and to allow us to invest in growth opportunities.
